Cargo travels from China to Uzbekistan in three ways: consolidated truck freight in roughly 15–25 days from $110 per m³, air in 5–10 days at $9–12/kg, and rail containers in 20–35 days at $2,800–5,500 per 20-foot box. The main route runs Yiwu warehouse → Urumqi → Khorgos → Almaty → Shymkent → Tashkent. Below is the whole process in 7 steps, from request to pickup, with documents and estimated prices as of September 2026.

What are the ways to ship from China to Uzbekistan?

Three questions decide the mode: how heavy and bulky the cargo is, how urgent it is, and what is inside. The table uses estimated Tashkent market prices for September 2026; the final price is fixed after weighing and measuring at the Yiwu warehouse.

Mode Estimated price (September 2026) Transit Best for
Truck cargo (consolidated) From $110 per m³; $110–320 per m³ depending on density, $0.55/kg at 1,000 kg/m³ and above 15–25 days Wholesale lots, heavy and bulky goods, items with batteries or liquids
Air cargo $9–12/kg (standard $9, branded $12) 5–10 days Urgent, light and valuable: samples, electronics, branded goods
Rail and containers 20 ft $2,800–5,500, 40 ft $5,200–6,800 20–35 days Lots above 15 m³, equipment, raw materials

Transit times count from departure from the China warehouse. Full tariffs and rules are on the Pricing page; the mode comparison is on the Truck cargo service page.

What is consolidated cargo and who is it for?

Consolidated cargo is a method where shipments from several clients are combined into one lot at the China warehouse and sent in one truck or container. You do not rent a whole container; you pay only for your space — by the cubic metre on the truck, by the kilogram by air. The international term is LCL (Less than Container Load); in Uzbek it is yigʻma yuk, in Russian сборный груз.

It suits lots from 10 kg to 15 m³ best: Uzum and Yandex Market sellers, shop and market-stall owners, entrepreneurs testing a first batch. Above 15–20 m³ a dedicated container (FCL) or rail usually works out cheaper.

GSR Logistics has been shipping consolidated cargo since June 2022; the third consolidation truck left the Yiwu warehouse on August 2, 2022. Yiwu (义乌) is home to the world’s largest small-commodity wholesale market, which is why the consolidation warehouse is there. There are two more receiving addresses in China — Guangzhou (广州) and Kashgar (喀什); your manager tells you which address to use.

Which route does the cargo take?

The main corridor for truck and rail runs through Kazakhstan:

  1. Yiwu → Xi’an → Lanzhou → Urumqi — about 4,000 km inside China, 4–6 days.
  2. Urumqi → Khorgos — the China–Kazakhstan border. Export formalities and queues happen here: usually 1–3 days, 5–7 days before holidays.
  3. Khorgos → Almaty → Shymkent → Tashkent — 1,100 km across Kazakhstan, entering Uzbekistan at the Yallama (Gishtkuprik) post. An electronic queue has operated at Yallama since June 2025.

The alternative is Kashgar → Irkeshtam → Osh → Andijan, shorter for the Fergana Valley. The Tashkent–Andijan–Osh–Irkeshtam–Kashgar corridor opened on February 25, 2018 (Gazeta.uz, February 19, 2018). Mountain passes make it unreliable in winter.

Rail containers cross at the Dostyk or Altynkol border stations, reach Saryagash and continue to Tashkent. The Altynkol–Khorgos junction upgrade finishes in 2026 and raises capacity from 18 to 33 train pairs a day (Ritm Eurasia, February 24, 2026). The China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway is still under construction — it is not operating in 2026, so do not plan around it.

Air cargo flies from Guangzhou or Urumqi to Tashkent airport and is cleared at the bonded warehouse.

From request to pickup: 7 steps

  1. You send a request. On Telegram or by phone you name the goods, the city, the approximate weight or volume and the deadline. Your manager proposes a mode and an estimated price.
  2. Contract and warehouse address. Pricing rule, transit time and liability go on paper. You receive the Yiwu warehouse address and your personal GS code (shipping mark).
  3. The cargo reaches the warehouse. Before dispatch your supplier writes the GS code on every carton, then ships the goods to the warehouse address. If the goods are not found yet, we buy them on 1688, Taobao or Alibaba (commission from 3%).
  4. Intake and photo report. Every piece is weighed, measured and numbered. Photos arrive in Telegram. On request: inspection (from $1/kg), repacking ($0.40/kg) and insurance (1% of declared value).
  5. Consolidation and loading. The cargo joins a lot; the invoice, packing list and HS code are prepared. The China warehouse stores free for up to 14 days, so you can wait for several suppliers and combine their deliveries.
  6. Road and customs. Your manager reports loading, the Khorgos crossing and arrival in Tashkent. Customs clearance and the declaration (GTD) are on us; duty and VAT are paid as the law requires.
  7. You receive the cargo. At the Tashkent warehouse you settle the invoice in soums and collect the goods, or we forward them to your region: free to a branch, UZS 20,000–30,000 to the door; in Tashkent door delivery is free from 5 kg. Storage in Tashkent is free for 3 days.

Which documents are needed and what happens at customs?

Customs distinguishes two regimes, and they must not be mixed.

Individuals, personal use. Under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 244 of April 19, 2025, from May 1, 2025 the limit for international courier shipments is $200 per calendar month, cumulative across all orders and tracked by personal ID (PINFL). The excess is subject to the single customs payment of 30%, minimum $3/kg. Decree UP-174 of August 27, 2026 lowers this to 20% and $2/kg from January 1, 2027 — a planned change, not yet in force. Large quantities of identical goods or repeated orders may be classed by customs as a commercial shipment.

Legal entities and sole traders, commercial goods. The set: a contract registered in E-Contract (mandatory since May 19, 2025), invoice, packing list, CMR (road) or SMGS (rail) waybill, certificate of origin, a 10-digit HS (TN VED) code and, where required, a conformity certificate and a sanitary (SES) conclusion. Payments: duty by HS code at 0–30% (clothing 20%, phones 5%, computers 0%, furniture 15%), VAT 12%, and the customs fee of 1 BRV for values up to $10,000 (Cabinet Resolution No. 55 of January 31, 2025). The GTD is what allows the goods to be sold legally in a shop or on a marketplace.

We prepare the documents, classify the goods and calculate the payments in advance; see the Customs clearance page and the Uzbekistan customs duties 2026 guide.

How much does shipping cost?

Truck cargo is priced by volume. First we work out the density of your cargo — total weight (kg) divided by total volume (m³) — and the density sets the price of a cubic metre: the denser the cargo, the more its cubic metre costs.

Density (kg/m³) Price
Up to 100 $110 per m³
101–150 $130 per m³
151–200 $160 per m³
201–250 $180 per m³
251–300 $200 per m³
301–350 $230 per m³
351–400 $260 per m³
401–450 $280 per m³
451–500 $290 per m³
501–700 $300 per m³
701–1,000 $320 per m³
1,000 and above $0.55 per kg

The minimum billable volume is 0.1 m³. Example: 48 kg in 0.2 m³ → density 240 kg/m³ → $180 per m³ → 0.2 × 180 = $36. Light bulky cargo: 180 kg in 2 m³ → 90 kg/m³ → 2 × 110 = $220. Very dense cargo such as fasteners or tiles: 1,200 kg in 1 m³ → 1,200 kg/m³ → 1,200 × 0.55 = $660. Air cargo works the other way round and is charged per kilogram ($9–12/kg).

The price includes intake at the Yiwu warehouse, consolidation, packing and the photo report; insurance, duty and VAT are extra.

The full method is in the guide How cargo prices are calculated; the Calculator gives a figure for your own cargo. All prices are estimates, updated September 8, 2026.

What cannot be shipped?

Not accepted at all: explosives and flammables; plants, animals and perishables; cash, precious metals and stones, jewellery, antiques; payment instruments, securities, documents; drones (banned for individuals); anything prohibited by law.

Truck only: lithium batteries and power banks, liquids, cosmetics and perfume, magnetic items — airlines refuse them. Medicines, walkie-talkies and radio equipment require permits. The full list is in the Prohibited goods guide.

How long does it take and what causes delays?

In normal conditions a truck arrives in 15–25 days; the fastest deliveries in GSR’s experience took 12–13 days, but that is not the standard. What stretches the timeline:

  • Chinese New Year (late January – February): warehouses stop shipping a week before the holiday and the first truck leaves 2–3 weeks later. Order February stock in December.
  • October 1–7 (Golden Week) and the November 11 sales — factories and warehouses are overloaded, and queues form at the border.
  • Queues at Khorgos and Yallama — 3–7 days before holidays and at year end.
  • Document errors — if the invoice description does not match the HS code, the cargo waits at customs. That is why we check the documents before departure.

Which mistakes should you avoid?

  • An unknown “cargo” demanding full prepayment — do not transfer money to channels without an office in Tashkent and a contract. Payment is settled in soums once the cargo has arrived in Tashkent.
  • Commercial goods under a personal passport — the $200 limit is not meant for shop stock; customs will class such a lot as commercial and apply penalties.
  • Judging cargo by weight alone — by truck you pay for volume: a 60×50×40 cm box occupies 0.12 m³, and at 12 kg that is a density of 100 kg/m³, so 0.12 × 110 = $13.20. Give your manager the dimensions, not only the weight.
  • Valuable cargo without insurance — 1% insurance covers the full value in case of loss or damage.
  • An unchecked supplier — that is what the photo report and warehouse inspection are for: defects are found before the goods leave China.
